- Drilling stud holes in horseshoes prior to tapping
A German custom-made counter sunk drill bit for drilling stud holes in horseshoes. A secondary cutting edge seats out the top of the stud hole as you drill, producing an accurate tapping hole with a countersunk edge in a single operation. The countersunk seat makes stud placement easier and helps prevent damage to the thread during the shoeing cycle, giving cleaner, longer-lasting stud holes. Made to a high standard, these bits are proven to hold a good cutting edge through repeated use. As with all drilling and tapping tools, use a quality drilling and tapping fluid or paste to prevent the bit overheating in use - it extends tool life and saves money. Pairs with the 3/8" BSW stud hole tap for a complete stud hole system.
