Deplano leather hoof pads are made in Italy by DePlano, a family firm established in 1987 in the Emilia-Romagna region and rooted in a century-old local tanning tradition. The pads are fitted between the shoe and the hoof at shoeing to protect the sole and frog. What sets Deplano apart is the leather itself. The hides are vegetable-tanned using natural tannins extracted from tree bark - an ancient, time-intensive method that strictly avoids synthetic fats and adulterants - then air-dried. The result is a pad with exclusive, breathable characteristics that allows the hoof to breathe naturally while remaining durable in work. This listing covers the standard (Regular) grade pad, 4/4.5 mm thick, in medium and large. Deplano also produce the same pad in Lite, Heavy and XX Heavy thicknesses and in numbered sizes, along with two-degree leather wedge pads - contact us if you need a grade or size not listed here.
