Deplano Wedge Leather Spider Pads

A wedged leather spider pad from Italian pad maker DePlano, designed to give local protection and support to the additional weight-bearing structures of the foot. The spider pattern covers the frog and branches out across the sole, rather than plating the whole foot, so the majority of the sole is left open. In work, the pad centralises load and adds stability to the hoof capsule, provides frog support, protects from hard ground surfaces and reduces sinking on soft going. The wedge profile adds heel elevation on top of those benefits, making it a useful remedial option where both caudal support and a raised palmar angle are wanted. Pairs well with impression material packed beneath the spider. Available in three sizes: size 4 (165 x 147 mm), size 5 (177 x 156 mm) and size 6 (190 x 170 mm). A flat version of the same leather spider pad is also available, along with the synthetic Spider Bar pad.
