The EDSS Aluminium Horseshoe is the foundation shoe of the Equine Digit Support System, developed by Gene Ovnicek following his studies of feral horse hoof patterns. Its patented rolled-toe design provides support and leverage reduction for the duration of the healing process, making it a core tool for treating lower-limb pathologies and returning lame horses to soundness. The shoe is constructed from heat-treated aluminium alloy, giving a lightweight yet durable product. It comes pre-drilled and tapped for easy attachment of EDSS components: the hole at the toe takes the stainless steel bolt that secures the EDSS pad, while the holes along the inside of the rim allow precise attachment of the EDSS wedge rails. This interchangeable-parts design means adjustments to the support set-up can be made without removing the shoe - easier for the farrier and far less disruptive for the horse. Sizes 00 to 4, measured by width at the widest point from 4 1/2" to 5 3/4".
