Equicast Hoof Casting Bandages

Equicast is a casting tape developed specifically for the equine hoof rather than adapted from orthopaedic casting. It carries a much higher resin content than standard medical casts, giving the cured cast the wear resistance needed on a loaded, ground-contacting hoof, while a special weave pattern keeps the tape malleable so it can be moulded closely to the hoof capsule during application. Applied with the Equicast wrapping method, the cast adds vertical integrity and medio-lateral stability to the whole hoof capsule - walls, sole and frog - making it a valuable tool in managing white line disease, wall flares, thin soles and other cases of hoof wall failure. By stabilising the capsule it helps reduce excessive stress on the laminae at the distal border, supporting better sole depth, concavity and palmar angles through the recovery period. The tape carries its own adhesive and can be used alone or in combination with adhesives such as Vettec Adhere, Jameg or Equilox where extra bond is wanted. It pairs directly with the other Equicast products, including the wooden clogs and EVA/leather therapeutic shoes. Available in three widths to suit different hoof sizes and casting jobs.
