HoofSolutions Orthopedic Pads are felt pads for the palmar and plantar (sole) surfaces of the hoof, made in America by HoofSolutions - a company founded in 2006 by hoof care professionals including AFA Certified Journeyman Farrier and lameness specialist Pat Burton. Each pad is cut from 28 oz surgical-grade orthopedic felt. Under load, the felt crushes down beneath the outer hoof wall, sealing in the sole and creating a cushion; university testing has shown the pad facilitates solar circulation. The back of the pad carries a vinyl lining that preserves the potency of a medication of your choice applied to the sole - such as a poultice gel or hoof packing - and the pads can be used inside hoof boots and reused multiple times. They may also be used with cast systems for longer-term cushion and protection, and are a favourite with endurance and trail riders. Supplied two per pack in three sizes. The pads are available dry (non-medicated) for use with your own dressing, and as a medicated Orthopedic Poultice Pad version impregnated with an osmotic gel hoof dressing.
