The Jim Blurton aluminium suspensory hind shoe is a therapeutic pattern designed to improve hind limb movement on soft ground. It carries a very wide, flat bearing surface at the toe: the extra width reduces how far the toe penetrates a soft surface, while the comparatively narrow heels are allowed to sink further into the going. The net effect eases breakover and alters the loading pattern through the limb, which is why the shoe is widely used in the management of hind suspensory cases. Part of the Jim Blurton aluminium remedial range, the shoes are supplied in pairs and stocked in sizes from 2x0 (00) to 4.
