- Hunter calk and wedge shoe making
The ultimate tooling block for hunter calk and wedge shoes. Normally, setting a hunter calk over the edge of the anvil leaves a set-down mark in the concave edge of the section that has to be rasped out before the branch can be bent. The angled face of this tooling block eliminates that distorted section, giving a clean, crisp section leading up to a perfect leading edge on the heel — without rasping. The wedge heel side of the block is rounded to put a perfect sloped leading edge on a hunter wedge heel, again with no rasping required. Because it is very difficult to rasp the leading edges of the heels and the inside edge of the hunter section once the shoe is bent, the block removes the need for a dedicated heat just for rasping. Jon used these blocks for hunter shoes throughout a very successful competition career: they improve the shoe, save a significant amount of time and effort, and free that time up to gain marks elsewhere. Ideal for anyone wanting to consistently improve their hunter shoes.
