Stromsholm heel wedge pads are fitted between the shoe and the hoof to correct the hoof-pastern axis. Raising the heels with a graded wedge is a standard farriery approach for horses with a broken-back hoof-pastern axis or where the vet or farrier wants to reduce strain on the palmar structures of the foot. The wedges are made in plastic in two densities. Sizes No.1 to No.4 are available in both firm and soft plastic, with the largest size, No.5, available in firm plastic only. The graded sizing lets the farrier select the degree of heel elevation required for the individual foot. Sold per pair.
