The Vulcan Blenkinsop Aluminium is an aluminium-construction early breakover shoe based on the historical Blenkinsop pattern, which was introduced to the British Army in the latter half of the 19th century and has remained relevant in therapeutic and performance farriery ever since. The Blenkinsop design moves the fulcrum of breakover forward by positioning the rolled toe ahead of the standard breakover point, reducing the mechanical work required by the deep digital flexor tendon and navicular apparatus during each stride.
